PS3 Launch Date and Price
Playstation 3 will be hitting store shelves in the United States on Nov. 17, just in time for the busy holiday shopping season.
The machine will be sold with a built-in hard drive and consumers will be able to choose between a 20-gigabyte version for $499 and a 60-gigabyte version that will cost $599.
At a press conference at Sony Picture Studios, the game and electronics giant showed off their biggest surprise: a controller that will likely compete with Nintendo’s Wii.

Six versions of Vista
Windows Vista Starter
Sold only on new PCs in emerging markets such as India and Thailand. Runs only on 32-bit machines, and will be able to handle only a limited number of programs at a time.
Windows Vista Home Basic
Comparable to XP Home. Has the security and search abilities particular to Vista, but does not offer its fancy graphics or high-end media features.
Windows Vista Home Premium
A higher-end option for consumers. Adds support for Vista’s new graphics as well as Media Center and Tablet PC features.
Windows Vista Business
Similar to XP Professional. It’s the mainstream corporate OS; also contains extra tools for small businesses.
Windows Vista Enterprise
Available only to customers with volume licenses. Includes all of the features of Vista Business, with the addition of encryption, Unix services and virtual machine capabilities.
Windows Vista Ultimate
Combines the features of Windows Vista Enterprise and Windows Vista Home Premium to offer the highest-end version of Windows yet.
An alphabetical keyboard
Electrical engineer John Parkinson developed the concept for this keyboard in time for last year’s Consumer Electronics Show, but had no prototype to display. At this year’s show, in Las Vegas, he’ll have keyboards on hand that reflect his design, which he says is more efficient than the QWERTY layout.
